I'm a first timer and I started with GT, no mat or so.
Instead of a heating pad, I used my pc and console fans - they spit out warm air for half of the day - and they prooved to be quite useful keeping my box warm but never too hot.
The first flush wasn't great, shroom grown only on one side but they were quite big and so I ended up with 13g dried. During the second flush I placed the brick on its side and checked twice a day for mini shrooms - they popped out in very weird locations so eventually I placed the brick vertically and collected 7 fully dried g. They just sprouted for their third time but I can't guess yet how worthy the yield will be, so far I'm at 20g dried which is fine even if I was expecting for 30+. Both flush sprouted and grown very fast, on the 13th day since I got my box I was already putting stuff in the drier. Delivery is also super speedy, everything arrived in less than a week.
I recommend this box and its fruits, my advice is to follow step by step the guide and check 2-3 times x day your babies -
